Maxine’s story is at the heart of Fly Mississippi. Alongside her late husband Norm, she raised two children who reflect her commitments to family, science, education, and community — her daughter Sara, and her son Paul, Co-Founder of the Mission-Next Foundation, together with his wife Betsy.

Her five grandchildren grew up with parents who valued education and hard work, and they were blessed with opportunities that too many Mississippi children do not have. Each followed their passions — in science, public service, health, technology, or entrepreneurship.

For more than five decades, Maxine’s faith and community ministry have focused on creating opportunities for all and paying blessings forward. Her example embodies the spirit of Fly Mississippi: lifting others, inspiring ambition, and ensuring that every child can chase their dreams.
